Communication Letter 2024-18

1.  IISHF Men Challenge European Cup 2025 - Application received

Moskitos Essen (Germany) has delivered an application approved by the German Federation for the hosting of the IISHF Men Challenge Cup 2025 in Essen (Germany) on 23.05-25.05.2025. Any other application for this event must be delivered within 3 weeks – thus the deadline shall be Friday 01.11.2024.

 

2.  IISHF U19 European Cup 2025 sanctioned

The IISHF Presidium has sanctioned that SHC Rossemaison (Switzerland) approved by the Swiss Federation will host the IISHF U19 European Cup 2025 in Rossemaison (Switzerland) on 27.- 29.06.2025. The Opening Ceremony and opening games will take place on Friday evening.

 

3.  IISHF Veterans European Cup 2025 sanctioned

The IISHF Presidium has sanctioned that SHC Rossemaison (Switzerland) approved by the Swiss Federation will host the IISHF Veterans European Cup 2025 in Rossemaison (Switzerland) on 15.- 17.08.2025. The Opening Ceremony and opening games will take place on Friday evening.

 

4.  IISHF U19 European Championships 2025 still open

The last IISHF U19 Eurpean Championships took place in 2023 in Amstetten (Austria) on  1-3 September 2023

No applications have been received so far for the hosting of the IISHF U19 European Championships 2025. Please note that the following currently applies according to § 18.15 IISHF Regulations:

A Continental Championship can only take place with teams from a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 different nations. From these minimum 4 nations at least two nations had to be placed on place 1 – 4 at the previous Continental Championship. Continental Championships should take place September to November (both months included). Exception is only possible after permission given by the IISHF Presidium.

All Continental Championships shall take place each year under the provision that the relevant event shall be officially announced by the IISHF until 30 November in the previous year. IISHF Presidium will be entitled to nominate another host in case of time cancellation by the original host.

 

5.  IISHF U19 European Championships status and expectations

The IISHF Presidium encourages the participating NMA’s to host currently on a 4-year plan so each country hosting the Title Event within a 4-year period. The IISHF U19 European Championships have been held in the following countries the last 4 times:

2023: Austria

2022: Great Britain

2019: Germany

2018: Switzerland

So, the expectation for the next 4 years of hosting of this Title Event would then be: 2025: Switzerland

2026: Germany

2027: Great Britain

2028: Austria

If necessary IISHF will accept a change in the order of the hosting if two NMAs decide to swop their expected year of hosting.

Please note that any changes proposed for alterations of the IISHF Regulations as might be proposed by the IISHF Working Group on IISHF Title Events (see next point 6 for update of the work in the working group) has to be taken into consideration.

 

6.  IISHF Working Group on IISHF Title Events – update

IISHF  has  -  as  published  in  the  IISHF  Communication  Letter  2024-08  on 08.05.2024 - based on the decision made at the IISHF Working Meeting in Zürich on 24.02.2024 established a working group for making solutions for the future for hosting IISHF Title Events for National Teams. The working group has participation from all the 5 countries that took part in the discussion at IISHF AGM 2024 and the current members consist of the following persons updated after the Men European Championships in Amstetten in September 2024. The listing also includes those that took part in the meeting that took place on Sunday 22 September 2024 in Amstetten.

The IISHF Presidium has decided that Marco Eicher from Switzerland has the lead of this Working Group to push forward independently from the IISHF Presidium. Independently means, that the main work should be done over the desks of the participating NMA with informing the IISHF Presidium about the state of the work.

The meetings primarily take place as online meetings. The first online meeting took place on Wednesday September 11, 2024. After the first meeting it was decided that the IISHF Presidium will also join the working group, but the working group would still be led by the designated NMA.

The second meeting of the working group took place during the IISHF Men European Championships 2024 in Amstetten where a number of ideas for change of the format and regulations for the IISHF European Championships 2024 were discussed.

The next online meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 22 October 2024.

 

7.  IISHF Title Events Applications for remaining IISHF Title Events 2025

For the following IISHF Title Events that should be expected to be hosted no formal applications have been received so they are still open for applications for 2025:

·         U16 European Cup

·         Women European Cup

 

For the following IISHF Title Events that should only be expected to be hosted if enough NMAs and teams are willing to take part no formal applications have been received so they are still open for applications for 2025:

·         Masters European Cup

·         U16 European Championships

·         U19 European Championships

·         Women European Championships

·         Veterans European Championships

·         Masters European Championships

Thus, we hereby officially announce that according to point 12.1 IISHF Constitution the IISHF Presidium has imposed the following official deadline for all IISHF National Member Associations to inform all their clubs:

·           about all now updated status for the open IISHF Title Events 2025 (as above)

·           to inform and remind their clubs about the deadline 15 November 2024 for applications of the open IISHF Title Events 2025

·           to inform and remind their clubs that without applications until 15 November 2024 that the relevant IISHF Title Events 2025 might not take place

·           that IISHF will announce the updated listing of IISHF Title Events latest 30 November 2024

 

·           if any application is received before 20 October 2024, then IISHF will announce the application with the standard 3 weeks deadline for any other club/NMA to make their bid for the same IISHF Title Event. IISHF will generally encourage early applications for the IISHF Title Events.

The IISHF National Member Associations are also requested (as official deadline according to point 12.1 IISHF Constitution) to provide the IISHF Presidium until Sunday 20 October 2024 a copy of their website publication (or other way of information sent to the clubs).

 

8.  IISHF Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2025

As agreed on the AGM 2024 the IISHF Presidium shall hereby announce that the IISHF AGM 2025 shall take place on 22./23.02.2025 in London (closed to London Heathrow Airport), Great Britain.

The hosting British Inline Skater Hockey Association (BiSHA) will provide lately until 31.12.2024 the hotel details.
