3. Germany won the IISHF Men European Championships 2024
Reigning. Defending. European Men 2024 Champions... Germany
The tournament that can be dubbed the IISHF shooting gallery with nearly all games going into double figures it was a tough weekend for netminders.
With some of the top shooters coming from Germany and Switzerland who played the final game to see who is the King of the hill and who will walk away with the cup for 2024!
Both Germany and Switzerland took the group top spots with ease. Switzerland had a harder time getting past Denmark in their semi final, however Germany ran through Austria like a train!
The final however, was an entirely different beast of a game, where the shooting gallery turned into hunting grounds with each side really having to work for their goals and hunt the gap in the netminders positioning.
The first period ending 1 - 0 to Germany.
Switzerland coming back with a quick goal in the early stage of the second period allowing them back into the game.
The rest of the period more of the same with fast back and forth fast paced action. Period two finished with both teams scoring three goals and Germany just about in the lead.
Soon into the third period Switzerland evened the score making it 4 - 4. With the game looking like its heading to overtime, Germany score with two seconds left on the clock.
