This CL contains important information about the suspension of the Russian Inline Skater Hockey Federation and its teams/officials from IISHF bodies and events. For 3 IISHF Title Events replacement teams are called for. In addition, the membership for the Lebanese Roller Hockey Federation has been terminated.
1. Suspension of Russia until further notice. War in Ukraine. IISHF official statement.
Due to the current state of war in Ukraine, the IISHF Presidium had decided to follow the IOC recommendation “not to organize any sports event in Russia or Belarus”, as well as the IOC resolution dated 28th February 2022 stating that “No athlete or sports official from Russia or Belarus be allowed to take part under the name of Russia or Belarus. Russian or Belarusian nationals, be it as individuals or teams. No national symbols, colours, flags or anthems should be displayed”. The suspension will be in place until further notice.
At the recent IISHF AGM which took place online on 26+27.02.2022 no direct action was taken against Russia for the invasion and war against Ukraine and the Russian Federation intended to take part if possible in the 3 Title Events 2022 in Germany where they had participating teams (U13, U16 and Men Challenge Cup).
However a lot of things have happened in the sports world since Sunday 27.02.2022 with the decision and recommendation made by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Monday 28.02.2022 which the IISHF Presidium with effect as of today has decided to follow. The decision has been made after consulting with the NMA’s from Austria, Denmark, Germany, Great Britain, Israel and Switzerland with teams participating in the above mentioned event to give us their feedback and opinion about giving IISHF the mandate for this decision. This decision has now been made and will apply until further notice. The Russian Federation will be reimbursed for the payment already done for the 3 mentioned events.
