U19 European Championships 2019 - update final deadline

1. U19 European Championships - update final deadline

The IISHF Presidium had a meeting with Thomas Ortner from the Austrian Federation on Sunday 25th November, 2018 in Rossemaison, Switzerland at the Men European Championships in skaterhockey and IISHF presented the feedback received from the NMA?s in response to the request as communicated in the IISHF Communication Letter 2018-24 as of 18th November 2018. Attached please find a document with the input received.

A minimum of 4 countries are willing to participate with their U19 National Team in the weekend (option 2) on 30th August ? 1st September, 2019.

IISHF has decided after consultation with Thomas Ortner from the Austrian Federation to extend the deadline for Austria to make a formal application for the hosting of the U19 European Championships 2019 until latest Monday 10th December 2018. This is the final deadline and will not be extended anymore.

Two countries Austria and Great Britain have at this time expressed an interest to send an U16 team to an IISHF B-Tournament. Austria has indicated that they will search for potential U16 teams to participate.

Other NMA?s are of course also welcome to send an application for hosting the U19 European Championships for 2019 or any other years to come.

According to the IISHF Regulations §18.14 the following applies:

An European Championship can only take place with teams from a minimum of four (4) different nations. From these minimum 4 nations at least two nations had to be placed on place 1 ? 4 at the previous European Championship. European Championships should take place September to November (both months included). Exception is only possible after permission given by the IISHF Presidium.
